A Fresh Field of Music Concert Series

“A Fresh Field of Music Concert Series” Unites Friends & Family for Classical and Contemporary Music Fun.

Lancaster Catholic Fine and Performing Arts announces a free concert series at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Curated by Michael Jamanis violinist, A Fresh Field of Music celebrates spring and the diverse musical relationships Jamanis has nurtured over the years.

Thursday,  April 4 @7pm

Thursday, May 16 @7pm

Trinity Lutheran Church

Free and open to the public

The April 4th concert will include Native Lancastrian Richard Field’s Suite for Violin and Piano, Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, and original works by Dr. Maria Corley and Frances Veri, as well as poetry and art songs performed by Soprano Theresa Thomason and Dr. Amanda Kemp.

“I met Theresa Thomason at an open mic in Martha’s Vineyard this past summer and we’ve been creating a common language of fun and impromptu improvisation since.  The open mic was hosted by Lancaster native Andy Herr.” said Michael Jamanis.

The series also highlights a piano trio by Richard Field.

Field, a McCaskey alumni and graduate of Columbia University, is a prolific songwriter who was inspired by a Frances Veri and Michael Jamanis’s performance of the Cesar Franck Violin Sonata.  Field used to take piano lessons with Veri when a child.

The May concert will be the U.S. premiere of Field’s piano trio.

“This concert series brings together some of my favorite composers and old childhood friends who have a deep love for music.”  said Jamanis.

Field and Jamanis are lifelong friends who collaborated often.

“I’ve known Richard since I was six years old.  We went to McCaskey together.  I was Capt. Kirk in his high school film “The Space Sketch” and Richard was my campaign manager when I ran for Mayor of Youth Day in Government at McCaskey.  And we’re back at it!” said Jamanis.

Susan Moyer, cellist in the Naples Philharmonic is also a former schoolmate and musical partner.  Moyer will perform in the May 16 concert.  Moyer and Field attended Martin Elementary, and she often performed with Jamanis in duos or orchestras at Wheatland Middle School and McCaskey.

“Mr. Waldman, who taught all the string classes in the School District of Lancaster, would pick us up in his old Volvo and give us donuts on the way to morning rehearsals and festivals.” said Jamanis.

Moyer is the daughter of organist Karl Moyer who recently established a strings scholarship for Lancaster students who need private lessons.

“A Fresh Field of Music Concert Series” will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, PA on Thursday April 4 and Thursday May 16, 2024.

The concerts are free and open to the public.
